Our story

We believe adulthood shouldn't come with a manual — but it should come with support.

Adulting Works was born from a simple idea: that the practical stuff of life — money, home, health, relationships — is rarely taught, but always needed.

How it started

Adulting Works started because so many of us arrive at adulthood completely unprepared for the practical realities of life. Nobody teaches you how to do a tax return, negotiate a lease, navigate the health system, or cope when everything falls apart at once.

We're an Australian community built on the belief that asking for help isn't a weakness — it's how we all get better at this. Whether you're 22 and just moved out of home, or 45 and finally tackling your superannuation, you're in the right place.

Everything we create is practical, plain-English, and grounded in the Australian context. No jargon, no judgement, no overwhelm.

Our mission

To make the practical skills of adult life accessible, approachable and genuinely useful for every Australian — at every stage.

Our philosophy

Three things guide everything we do.

1

No question is too basic

There's no such thing as a silly question here. If you're wondering about it, someone else is too. We create a space where you can ask anything without embarrassment.

2

Meet people where they are

Life doesn't follow a neat timeline. We don't assume you should already know something, or that you're behind. You're exactly where you need to be.

3

Practical over perfect

We'd rather give you something useful you can act on today than a perfect theory you'll never use. Real-world, actionable, and honest.

What we stand for

Non-judgemental

No question is too basic. No situation is too messy. We meet you where you are, without shame or assumptions.

Practical

Real-world advice you can actually use — not vague platitudes or overwhelming theory.

Community-driven

Built around the idea that we're all figuring this out together. Your questions and experiences make this better for everyone.

Australian

Grounded in the Australian context — our systems, our services, our way of life. No US-centric advice here.

Accessible

Plain English, no jargon, and content that works for everyone — regardless of background, education or experience.

Honest

We tell you what we know, acknowledge what we don't, and always recommend professional advice when it matters.
